Brookfield, through its private equity business, agreed to acquire World Freight Company from PAI Partners and EQT, the sellers said on 14 May.
Why Brookfield (private equity) is buying World Freight Company
Brookfield described WFC as a high-quality platform operating in a critical segment of the resilient global air freight ecosystem, and trade press said it is targeting technology-led expansion across the cargo sales agency market.
Deal terms and financing
Financial terms were not disclosed. Reuters reported that the deal values WFC at about $1.2bn; EQT and PAI had explored a sale in 2021 at a hoped-for valuation of more than €1.5bn.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to customary conditions.
Market context
WFC represents airlines in selling and managing cargo capacity, handling booking, handling and shipment oversight. It serves more than 300 airlines on 3,500 trade lanes and completed 20 acquisitions under PAI and EQT ownership, which began in 2018.
