Why Siemens Mobility (Siemens AG) is buying MERMEC Group core businesses

Siemens said the deal would significantly strengthen its global diagnostics portfolio and expand its signalling business and industrial presence in Italy, combining its urban signalling expertise with MERMEC's position on Italy's mainline network. It expects a positive contribution to revenue growth and margins within Mobility's target range from the second year after closing.

Deal terms and financing

The parties agreed not to disclose financial terms. Siemens expects meaningful synergies, especially from cross-selling.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Closing is subject to customary conditions and is expected by the end of calendar 2026.

Market context

MERMEC was founded in 1970 and is controlled by Vito Pertosa's Angelo Holding, which said the sale would secure the future of the company's staff and allow it to invest in its other businesses. On 12 May ANSA, citing Bloomberg, reported that Siemens was studying a deal valuing MERMEC at more than €1bn.
