Artivion said on 7 May that it had exercised its option to acquire Endospan, the Israeli developer of the NEXUS Aortic Arch System, for an upfront price of $135m net of loans it had previously extended.
Why Artivion, Inc. is buying Endospan Ltd.
Chief executive Pat Mackin said NEXUS would expand Artivion's aortic arch portfolio and add three PMA programmes to its pipeline, and that with AMDS, NEXUS and Arcevo LSA it stood to become the only company with a complete portfolio of aortic arch solutions.
“Our acquisition of the NEXUS system would expand our market-leading aortic arch portfolio, position us at the forefront of this segment, and broaden our pipeline with three additional PMA programs.”
Deal terms and financing
Artivion said it expected about $8m of Endospan-related expenses in 2026, excluded from its adjusted EBITDA guidance, and negligible US NEXUS sales before a planned commercial launch on 1 January 2027. The completed deal carried a net upfront payment of about $131.3m plus up to $200m in milestone payments.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The FDA granted premarket approval to NEXUS in April 2026. Artivion had expected the acquisition to close in the second quarter, and it was completed in May.
Market context
Artivion, formerly CryoLife, has distributed NEXUS in Europe, the Middle East and Africa since 2019 under agreements that included its option to buy Endospan, and estimates the US market opportunity for the device at about $150m a year.
