Why Databricks, Inc. is buying Panther Labs Inc.

Databricks said Panther supports its push to replace legacy SIEMs by running agentic detection and response on a unified security lakehouse, combined with its Lakewatch product launched in March.

Deal terms and financing

Financial terms were not disclosed. Panther lets engineers write detections in Python, generates detections from natural-language prompts and can run on cloud data platforms so logs need not be moved, SiliconANGLE reported.

Regulatory approvals and timing

The deal was subject to customary conditions including regulatory clearances. Databricks announced on 3 August 2026 that it had completed the acquisition.

Market context

Panther was Databricks' third announced security acquisition after Antimatter and SiftD.ai. SecurityWeek counted 37 cybersecurity deals announced in June 2026.
