Why JSW Energy is buying Maruti Clean Coal and Power

JSW Energy said the asset would add to EBITDA and profit from the first day and reduce net leverage, with savings available from logistics and operating costs because the plant sits close to its Mahanadi power station. The company described the deal as part of a disciplined build-versus-buy approach.

Deal terms and financing

The company bought 100% of MCCPL's equity from Kolahai Infotech and SFI Parcel Services. The enterprise value was subject to customary closing adjustments. MCCPL reported estimated FY26 EBITDA of about ₹279 crore.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Completion was subject to regulatory and customary approvals. JSW Energy told the exchanges on 7 August 2026 that it had completed the acquisition and that MCCPL was now a wholly owned subsidiary.

Market context

Besides the 195MW long-term contract with Rajasthan, the plant supplies 5% of output to the Chhattisgarh distribution company at variable cost and sells about 64MW on the merchant market, with coal secured under a fuel supply agreement with SECL and the SHAKTI linkage scheme.
