KPIT Technologies said on 6 May that its board had approved the acquisition of a strategic stake in Cymotive Technologies, an Israeli automotive cybersecurity specialist, under a phased deal worth up to $120m for full ownership.
Why KPIT Technologies Limited is buying Cymotive Technologies Ltd
KPIT said Cymotive strengthens its capabilities in automotive cybersecurity, a natural extension of its software-defined vehicle engineering work, and will let it embed security from vehicle design through production and operation while adding product and licensing revenue. Cymotive's offerings include a cybersecurity management system, automated penetration testing, vulnerability management, intrusion detection and a cloud platform.
Deal terms and financing
The initial $10m investment in preference capital converts into 26% of Cymotive's equity if milestones are met within eight quarters. KPIT would then acquire further stakes in two tranches, to 65% and then 100%, with total cash consideration of $60m-$120m including the upfront payment, depending on Cymotive's actual revenue and EBIT.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The transaction requires merger-control filings in Germany and Austria. The initial investment was expected to close in mid-June 2026.
Market context
Cymotive was founded jointly by senior Israeli cybersecurity leaders and CARIAD, the Volkswagen Group's automotive software company. Its turnover was $42.4m in 2023, $32.7m in 2024 and $19.2m in 2025.
