Servier agreed on 6 March 2026 to acquire Day One Biopharmaceuticals for US$21.50 per share in cash, giving the Nasdaq-listed company a total equity value of about US$2.5bn.
Why Servier is buying Day One Biopharmaceuticals, Inc.
Servier said the deal makes it a leader in paediatric low-grade glioma and adds early-stage to Phase 3 oncology programmes, in line with its 2030 plan. Day One sells Ojemda (tovorafenib) in the US, has licensed ex-US rights to Ipsen, and is also developing the antibody-drug conjugate Emi-Le and DAY301.
“This acquisition of Day One Biopharmaceuticals marks another decisive step in strengthening Servier’s position in rare oncology,”
Deal terms and financing
The price was about 68% above Day One's closing price on 5 March and 86% above its one-month volume-weighted average price. Servier made a cash tender offer, with any remaining shares acquired through a second-step merger at the same price, and funded the deal from existing cash and investments.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The tender offer required a majority of shares to be tendered and US antitrust clearance, with closing expected in the second quarter. Servier announced on 23 April 2026 that it had successfully completed the tender offer.
Market context
Servier is an independent pharmaceutical group governed by a foundation and based in Suresnes, France. The deal was one of several multi-billion-dollar biotech takeovers in March 2026.
