Biffa has agreed to acquire Enva's general recycling businesses in Scotland and England for an undisclosed sum, Enva said on 3 November 2026.
Why Biffa is buying Enva's general recycling businesses in Scotland and England
Biffa said the businesses strengthen its construction and demolition offering by expanding collection and processing across England and Scotland and add capacity to its commercial collections business, according to letsrecycle.com. For Enva, the sale concludes a strategic refocus on its resource recovery and environmental services businesses.
“This agreement marks an important step for Enva and our general recycling colleagues in Scotland and England.”
Deal terms and financing
The sale covers operations at Linwood, Newbridge, Glenrothes and Irvine in Scotland and Colwick, Wesley Street, Sunningdale and Whetstone in England, together with collection and transport activities. Contracts have been exchanged; the businesses remain part of Enva until completion, which is expected in December.
Market context
The businesses serve commercial, industrial and construction and demolition customers, handle 800,000 tonnes of material a year, employ more than 600 people and run over 150 vehicles. Enva sold its wood recycling business to Seras Energy in September 2026 and will retain operations in the UK and Ireland, including general waste services in Northern Ireland through Irish Waste and McNabb Waste.
