GE Vernova has agreed to acquire Trench Group, a maker of high-voltage grid equipment, from funds advised by Triton Partners for a purchase price of US$9.0bn equivalent, the companies said on 28 October 2026. GE Vernova announced the deal alongside its third-quarter results.

Why GE Vernova Inc. is buying Trench Group

GE Vernova said the deal will create scale across its Electrification product lines and expand its capabilities to serve customers. Trench supplies high- and medium-voltage bushings, instrument transformers and coils to utilities and data-centre operators.

Deal terms and financing

The price is expressed in US dollar equivalents at a EUR/USD exchange rate of 1.12, and GE Vernova noted the final dollar amount may differ with the prevailing rate. Press reports said the purchase will be funded equally from cash and debt.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Closing is expected in late 2027, subject to customary regulatory approvals and required consultations with employee representatives. The two companies will operate independently until then.

Market context

Triton Fund V carved Trench out of Siemens Energy as an independent company in April 2024. Under Triton, Trench's annual revenue doubled to more than €1bn, order intake passed €2bn, it opened a new US plant and completed three bolt-on acquisitions. Demand for grid equipment has risen with electrification and data-centre construction.
