Howard Energy Partners has agreed to acquire Iron Horse Midstream, a gas gathering and processing company owned by Sixth Street, expanding its position in Oklahoma's Anadarko Basin, the company said on 27 October 2026. Terms were not disclosed.

Why Howard Energy Partners is buying Iron Horse Midstream (from Sixth Street)

HEP said the assets, backed by multi-decade customer contracts covering about 167,000 dedicated acres, strengthen its Anadarko Basin position. Combined, its Oklahoma footprint will include nearly 2,000 miles of pipeline, about 2 Bcf/d of pipeline capacity, 580 MMcf/d of processing capacity and 540,000 horsepower of compression.

Deal terms and financing

The acquisition covers about 400 miles of high- and low-pressure gas pipelines in Canadian, Caddo and Grady counties, multiple compressor stations and the 120-acre Iron Horse processing complex with 425 MMcf/d of capacity.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Closing is expected by year-end 2026, subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals.

Market context

HEP said the deal brings its Midcontinent acquisitions over the past two years to about US$2.5bn, following its purchase of Superior Midstream and the remaining interest in the Midship Pipeline earlier in 2026. Sixth Street made a significant equity commitment to Iron Horse in 2025.
