Sika said on 21 October 2026 that it had agreed to acquire the adhesives business of Japanese chemicals group Resonac Corporation. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Why Sika AG is buying Resonac adhesives business

Sika said the business, which mainly serves automotive customers across Asia and holds a leading position in interior assembly bonding, would give it access to key suppliers of Japanese automotive OEMs and widen its reach to those accounts globally. It expects cost synergies from integrating the business's plants with its own Asia/Pacific production network, cross-selling opportunities and growth in battery solutions through the business's presence in Taiwan.

Deal terms and financing

Sika did not disclose the purchase price or the financial profile of the business. The perimeter includes sales organisations and three manufacturing sites in Japan, China and Taiwan.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Closing is expected in mid-2027. The announcement did not list specific approvals.

Market context

Sika, a Swiss specialty chemicals group, employs about 33,700 people and reported sales of CHF 11.20bn in 2025. With the three plants it is acquiring, Sika plans to form an integrated production network for the Asia/Pacific region alongside its existing presence.
