Viessmann Generations Group said on 22 October 2026 that it will become a shareholder of FC Bayern München AG, taking a stake of just under 6.7% through a capital increase.

Why Viessmann Generations Group is buying FC Bayern München AG (c.6.7% stake)

The investment builds on a commercial relationship between Viessmann and FC Bayern dating back to 2018 and is to focus on sustainability, internationalisation and digitalisation.

Deal terms and financing

Viessmann acquires the last available equity stake, originally 5%, which becomes just under 6.7% because it is structured as a capital increase. FC Bayern München e.V. retains 70%; adidas, Audi and Allianz each hold just under 7.8%. The price was not disclosed; German media reported a price of about €250m.

Regulatory approvals and timing

The agreement takes effect once the capital increase is entered in the commercial register.

Market context

Max Viessmann, chief executive of the family holding company, currently sits on the advisory council of FC Bayern München e.V. and is expected to join the AG's supervisory board.
