Why Alkem Laboratories Ltd (Alkem MedTech) is buying Occlutech Holding AG (majority stake)

Alkem said the purchase gives its medtech arm, until now focused on orthopaedic implants, entry into advanced cardiovascular devices and access to high-barrier markets including the US, Japan and Germany. Occlutech describes itself as the second-largest company in Europe in minimally invasive cardiac implants and third-largest globally.

Deal terms and financing

The €99.4m consideration, about INR 1,074 crore, covered a stake of up to 55%. Occlutech recorded unaudited revenue of €49.4m in 2025, with about 85% coming from Europe and the US. The offer was subject to definitive agreements and foreign-investment approvals in several jurisdictions.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Alkem originally expected completion by June 2026. Following further filings on 6 March and 29 June, Alkem reported in July 2026 that it had completed the acquisition of a majority stake under the share purchase agreement, according to Indian Pharma Post.

Market context

Founded in 2003, Occlutech sells its devices in more than 80 countries and runs manufacturing and R&D sites in Germany and Turkey, a distribution hub in Sweden and clinical operations in the US.
