Contship Italia, controlled by Germany's EUROKAI, has agreed through its subsidiary Sogemar to acquire the Tarros group, a La Spezia-based Mediterranean shipping, terminal and logistics business, for a price in the mid-double-digit millions of euros, EUROKAI said on 28 October 2026.

Why Sogemar S.p.A. (Contship Italia, majority-owned by EUROKAI) is buying Tarros Group (Tarros S.p.A., Terminal del Golfo, Car Box, Compagnia Marittima Servizi, Med Logistics Malta)

EUROKAI said the deal integrates sea, rail and road transport into a single platform for the Europe–Mediterranean–North Africa corridor, combining Tarros's network with Sogemar's intermodal operations and Contship's terminals in Italy, Egypt and Morocco.

Deal terms and financing

The purchase price is in the mid-double-digit millions of euros and will be financed partly with equity and partly with debt. La Nazione reported a figure of about €50m. Contship Italia is about 66.6% owned by EUROKAI and about 33.3% by EUROGATE.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject among other things to approval by the competent authorities.

Market context

Tarros, founded in 1828, operates door-to-door across 16 countries and 31 Mediterranean ports with 751 employees. Shipping Italy reported that DP World and Gulftainer had also been in the running for the group.
