Taiwan's Fair Trade Commission said on 21 October 2026 that it had blocked Grab's US$600m acquisition of Delivery Hero's foodpanda business in Taiwan.

Deal terms and financing

Delivery Hero agreed in March 2026 to sell foodpanda Taiwan to Grab for US$600m in cash on a cash- and debt-free basis.

Regulatory approvals and timing

The commission voted 3 to 1 to prohibit the deal under Article 13(1) of the Fair Trade Act, citing Uber's 13.1% stake in Grab, past board overlap and business ties, and found Grab's remedies insufficient. It said the companies may file again.

Market context

Taiwan blocked Uber's earlier attempt to buy foodpanda Taiwan in December 2024, making this the second rejected sale of the business. Uber Eats and foodpanda dominate food delivery on the island.
