Austrian industrial group Miba said on 19 October 2026 that it had agreed to buy the slide bearings business of Germany's RENK Group, which has about 500 employees and annual revenue of about €130m. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Why Miba AG is buying RENK Group slide bearings business
Miba chief executive F. Peter Mitterbauer called it the largest acquisition in the company's history. Miba says the combined business will supply bearing technology for the energy transition and electrification, including grid connection of wind and solar power, power supply for AI data centres, electric motors and ship propulsion. RENK said the sale supports its focus on defence and gives the unit an owner with an industrial focus.
Deal terms and financing
The agreement was signed on 18 October 2026. The business is headquartered in Hanover and has plants in Germany, the United States, Brazil, China and Japan.
Regulatory approvals and timing
Completion requires approval from the competition authorities; Miba said the application has been filed.
Market context
The sale lets RENK concentrate on its defence business, while Miba, based in Laakirchen in Upper Austria, adds a business with about 500 employees across three continents.
