The European Commission has approved Portobello Capital's acquisition of joint control of Béaba Suavinex Group alongside Bluegem, clearing the Spanish private equity firm's purchase of a 51% stake in the baby and infant care products maker, it said on 30 October 2026.

Why Portobello Capital is buying The Béaba Suavinex Group

Bluegem said the partnership would support the group's next phase of growth, including international expansion, with the United States a key market. Management led by Julien Laporte continues to run the business.

Deal terms and financing

Portobello is buying 51% from Bluegem, which is reinvesting and keeps about 48%. The price was not disclosed. It is the second investment from Portobello's Fund V.

Regulatory approvals and timing

The Commission reviewed the deal under its simplified merger procedure and found no competition concerns given the companies' limited combined market position.

Market context

Bluegem acquired French brand Béaba in 2020 and merged it with Alicante-based Suavinex in 2022, growing the group about fourfold. It makes pacifiers, bottles and skincare products and has plants in Spain and Slovakia.
