Why Alfasigma S.p.A. is buying Nordic Group B.V. (Nordic Pharma)

Alfasigma said the deal is a decisive step in building its international specialty and rare-disease business. Nordic Pharma's rheumatoid arthritis products, led by the Nordimet methotrexate franchise, complement Alfasigma's Jyseleca, and the deal adds women's health, critical care and ophthalmology products.

“Alfasigma is the right partner for Nordic Pharma as we enter our next phase of growth.”Charlotte Phelps, CEO, Nordic Group B.V.

Deal terms and financing

Alfasigma will buy 100% of Nordic Group and its subsidiaries; the price was not disclosed. About 265 employees will join Alfasigma, which will then operate directly in 18 European countries and gain commercial operations in Canada and Japan.

Regulatory approvals and timing

Closing is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected by the end of the fourth quarter of 2026.

Market context

Alfasigma, an Italian group with about 4,000 employees, has been growing through acquisitions and licensing, including its earlier purchase of Jyseleca.
