EDP – Energias do Brasil has completed its acquisition of 100% of EDP Renováveis Brasil from EDP Renewables for €990m (R$5.6bn), Portuguese parent EDP said on 28 October 2026.

Why EDP – Energias do Brasil S.A. is buying EDP Renováveis Brasil, S.A. (from EDP Renewables)

EDP said the transaction enables it to integrate its generation, trading and supply activities in Brazil, improving agility, competitiveness and risk management in the country's free electricity market, and supports operating and financial efficiency across the group under its 2026–2028 business plan.

Deal terms and financing

The final price of €990m implies an enterprise value of about €1.6bn. It is higher than the terms disclosed on 19 May 2026 because of customary adjustments, chiefly capital contributions made by EDPR to EDPR Brasil between signing and closing.

Market context

EDP is the majority shareholder of both EDP Renewables and, through its wholly owned holding, EDP Brasil, so the deal reorganises assets within the group rather than bringing in an outside buyer. EDP Brasil disclosed the completion to the CVM on 30 October.
