Astorg said on 20 October 2026 that Oxoid Remel Microbiology, the business it bought from Thermo Fisher Scientific in August, plans to acquire the microbiology diagnostics division of Solabia, another Astorg portfolio company that includes Biokar Diagnostics. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Why Oxoid Remel Microbiology (Astorg) is buying Solabia microbiology diagnostics division (incl. Biokar Diagnostics)
Astorg said the combination would create a focused global microbiology platform serving clinical diagnostics, food safety and pharmaceutical testing, bringing together the two companies' product portfolios and customer relationships and opening cross-selling and international expansion opportunities. Solabia's division adds culture-media expertise, particularly in food and beverage testing.
Deal terms and financing
Terms were not disclosed. The combined business will be led by Dirk Bontridder, chief executive of Oxoid Remel Microbiology.
Regulatory approvals and timing
The planned transaction remains subject to the execution of definitive agreements, customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
Market context
Astorg bought Solabia from TA Associates, which reinvested, in October 2025. The divestment is part of a repositioning of Solabia towards cosmetics, nutrition and life sciences, alongside the appointment of Muriel Koch as president and chief executive from 29 October.
